Our Wines

Neponset Winery's fourth vintage has produced an exciting selection of fine wines. Our wines are made in small batches. Our white wines are fermented in cold temperatures to preserve and accentuate the fruitiness of the grapes. Our reds are vinted to yield full-bodied wines with lots of fruit and muted oak. When possible, we make our wines from locally-grown fruit. The southeastern coast of Massachusetts is garnering a reputation as an ideal place to grow fine white wine grapes that produce unique New England style wines. Check the "Events" and "Find Our Wines" pages for a convenient place to taste and purchase our wines.

Red Wines

2008 Cabernet Sauvignon
This approachable small-batch Cabernet Sauvignon is made from grapes grown in California’s Amador County and blended with 10% Long Island Cabernet Franc. It greets your nose with smells of currants and blackberries with a hint of cinnamon. On the palate you’ll experience cassis, plums, and blackberries with a subtle smokiness and muted tannins. The finish lingers in your mouth. Drink this wine now. Decant it to serve, because there is some sediment. Serve with red meats, grilled lamb, or a sharp aged Vermont or English cheddar. Only 20 cases made! Amador County, CA AVA Alcohol 13.7%

2008 Merlot
This Rhode Island grown Merlot blended with 10% Cabernet Franc is not your usually New England red. It is uncharacteristically full bodied with saturated purple color. This wine meets your nose with a bouquet of dark cherries, blackberries and herbs. You’ll find dark cherries, red plums, blackberries, plus a subtle herbal quality added from the Cab Franc. The tannins are beginning to integrate well, but this wine will continue to develop. This is another wine that pairs well with red meats and complimentary foods. A real bargain at this price!

2008 Old Vine Zinfandel

We crafted this medium-bodied Zin from 70 year old, dry farmed grapes grown in Lodi’s Clements Hills district. We fermented it in three batches using two different yeasts: one to enhance Zin’s spiciness, and one to bring out its terrific fruit. Because of its high alcohol, this wine only completed a partial malo-lactic fermentation and was filtered for stability....

April Harvest April Harvest - SOLD OUT
This intriguing red wine was an experiment to see what kind of wine grapes from Chile would make. It turned out to be fantastic. Unfortunately, we only made twenty cases of it. April Harvest is a field blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Malbec, and 20% Carminere. On the nose, you’ll sense eucalyptus and cherries and dark fruit on the palate. It’s fruity with mild tannins and enough acidity to make it a perfect wine to pair with food. Try it with grilled meats, including hamburgers, Bar-BQ, and seasoned foods such as fajitas. Chorruco Valley, Chile Alcohol 13.7% by volume
