RELEASING 2 NEW WINES THIS WEEKEND
Open Saturday & Sunday 12 - 5 pm

Welcome to Neponset Winery

A good friend introduced me to winemaking more than 30 years ago. It all started with a trip to a pick-your-own berry farm.  Those fresh picked currants made a pretty good wine.  While I've tried my hand at making a lot of different types of wine over the years, grapes are my fruit of choice.

Neponset Winery is the "fruition" of a dream to start a small winery. Some people just dream; with the help and encouragement of my wife, my dream is coming true.  Neponset Winery is dedicated to making fine wines in small batches. We purchase juice from top growers in Massachusetts and California and ferment it cold to produce distinctive, fruity wines.

We're conveniently located in the suburban town of Needham, Massachusetts, off Exit 19B,  I-95/Rt. 128, just 3 miles south of the Mass Pike. Our wines are available for sale at the winery and a select group of wine shops in the Boston area.

We hope you'll visit us, enjoy some wine, and share the dream.

Our Wines

Neponset Winery starts its third season with an exciting selection of fine wines.  Our wines are made in small batches, and fermented in cold temperatures to preserve and accentuate the fruitiness of the grapes.  When possible, we make our wines from locally-grown fruit.  The southeastern coast of Massachusetts is garnering a reputation as an ideal place to grow fine white wine grapes that produce unique New England style wines.  Stop by on the weekends to taste and purchase our wines:

2006 Unoaked Chardonnay (Southeastern New England): Made from Massachusetts-grown grapes, fermented in stainless steel. This wine has great tropical fruit and green apple flavors with a lingering finish, and expresses all that a Massachusetts Chardonnay can be. Sold Out

2006 Halloween Harvest Chardonnay (Southeastern New England): An unusual award-winning wine made from Massachusetts Chardonnay grapes picked on Halloween with a touch of the "Noble Rot."  It's a chardonnay that doesn't taste like one. Flavors of Peaches, Kiwi and Honey, with a long finish.

2006 Rosé of Pinot Noir (Southeastern New England): Made from Massachusetts-grown Pinot Noir pressed at harvest and fermented like our white wines. This wine is a light, low-alcohol summer sipper, perfect for a hot summer day.  Fruity nose with cherries and strawberries on the palate. Serve cold.

Pinot Gris (2006) (Suisun Valley): Made in the Oregon style with grapes from the Suisun Valley in Northern California. Bursting with flavors of melon and honey, this is a rich, medium bodied wine with lots of fruit and a long finish.

New Releases

2006 Sauvignon Blanc (Napa Valley): Made in the New Zealand style, light and crisp, with a big nose of grapefruit up front and lots of tropical fruit on the palate. This wine has a long finish that won't quit. This wine has just enough acidity to make it a perfect food pairing wine.

2007 Vidal Blanc (Southeastern New England): This unusual wine, made from local, fruit is full of fruit and spice. You'll experience a pineapple bouquet and flavors of Cardamom, Cloves, and Nutmeg. This is another excellent food pairing wine that will go great with shellfish and lobster.

Planning to Visit Us?

Starting April 12, we'll be open Saturdays and Sundays 12-5.

If you are planning to visit when the weather is chilly, please dress warm. We don't have a separate "tasting room." Our tasting area is right in the winemaking area. Wine likes to be kept cool, and early spring provides natural cooling. In the spring, we open our garage door. So, if the weather is chilly, dress appropriately. Stop by for a tour and tasting and to purchase some wine.
